This generation of the Suzuki Vitara is one of the most well known vehicles in Jamaica, well lauded for its reliability. I know of it’s reliability because I had one for several years. I had bought it with over 100,000 miles on it but it never left me stranded.
Wait, it died on me once. But that was the alternator; it wasn’t an engine part. The 1600cc engine that came with the vehicle well taken care of by me and it was a sad day when I had to say farewell.
Not only is the Vitara well known but it’s well sought. During the time that I owned this vehicle, I think I was approached with an offer to buy every six weeks. This was a lot to me because I’m only on the road for about 15-20 minutes per day and I only go out maybe three times per week.
So extrapolate that to if I was on the road a bit more.. you can see the demand is high so resale would never be an issue. In Jamaica, this vehicle is kind of like those Corollas, except the crooks don’t go after them like they do the Corollas because even though they’re reliable, they’re not very popular.
